Experience & Specialisms:
Richard trained and qualified in Merthyr Tydfil in 1998. Huw Baker was a partner in the firm that trained Richard. To broaden his experience after gaining his qualification, Richard moved to a firm of Chartered Accountants in Bridgend where he began to specialise in Charity Accounting.
Richard now heads our specialist Charity and Third Sector department. Richard also has many business clients who value his all round experience.
Outside Work:
Richard spends much of his leisure time with his children and enjoys the occasional game of golf. He is also a Swansea City AFC Supporter and attends home games on a regular basis.
Anthony Phillips

Experience & Specialisms:
Anthony joined a local firm of Accountants, Martin Howell & Co, as a trainee and passed his final examinations to qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2011. Anthony joined the firm in 2012 during the merger with another local firm and became a director in 2022. Anthony is a highly self- motivated individual with the aim of providing the best possible service to his clients by using the vast experience that he has gained from preparing accounts, tax returns, management accounts, VAT issues and audit.
Outside Work:
Anthony enjoys playing snooker for his local club as well as spending time with his family.
Mark James

Position: Client Manager
Qualifications: Intermediate AAT
Experience & Specialisms:
Mark has a vast experience of working with small businesses and providing them with solutions that satisfy their needs. He is a highly self-motivated individual who takes great pride in getting it right for the client. Mark has a great ability to connect with clients and to work with them day to day and year by year to meet their accounting and taxation needs.
Outside Work:
Mark enjoys a variety of sports and is particularly interested in personal fitness, so in his spare time you will find him at his local gym.

Experience & Specialisms:
Sarah studied Accountancy at Cardiff University where she gained a 2:1 Honours Degree. Straight from University Sarah joined the international firm of accountants, Coopers & Lybrand where she studied for her professional exams and was part of the Audit Department. After having her children, Sarah moved to smaller local accountancy firms in the Cardiff area in order to broaden her small business experience and also began her specialism in Charity Accounting.
Outside Work:
Sarah has a busy family life with her two children, but when she does have spare time she enjoys shopping, eating out and musical theatre.
Diane Thomas
Position: Payroll Manager
Qualifications:
CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management - 1992
AAT – 2004
Experiences & Specialisms:
Diane achieved her qualification in payroll management in 1992 when it was first launched, she has over 30 years’ experience in payroll,
Working within manufacturing until 2009 before moving to a Housing Association. She joined Baker Knoyle in 2016 transforming the payroll department. Diane is a highly motivated, conscientious individual who strives to provide the best possible service for our clients.

Diane enjoys spending time with her family and walking her dog

Position: Senior Consultant
Qualifications:
Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
Member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals
Statutory Auditor
Experience & Specialisms:
Huw practiced in Merthyr Tydfil from January 1987 to December 2022, when he sold his interest in the practice that he built over those 35 years. He remains with the practice on a part-time basis dealing with a small number of clients but is also available to lend his experience to more complicated cases.
Outside Work:
Huw is a member of the internationally renowned Cwmbach Male Choir and also plays bass guitar in a local band.
